The setting

A wedding on the hill where the sky comes close

Aurora Hill began with a single cabin built by hand, and it has always been a place where people gather to watch the northern lights. Today it is the highest-located resort in Rovaniemi: handcrafted cabins of wood, stone and glass looking out over the valley and the northern sky, with beds turned towards the window — and in the Sky Suites, a glass roof above you.
At its heart is Restaurant Roavvi, a new northern restaurant opening on 31 October 2026 and seating up to 60 guests. Its name comes from a Northern Sámi word for a hill where fire once passed and the forest returned. Head Chef Gordon Yam, who spent eight years at Helsinki’s two-Michelin-star Restaurant Grön, cooks a seasonal menu of reindeer, northern fish, rye and barley under the culinary direction of Toni Kostian. With the restaurant reserved privately and your guests staying in the cabins, the whole celebration can happen in one place — from the vows to the last toast under the aurora.

Venue details

Everything you need to know

What is possible here, when, and how the day can flow — gathered from our own weddings at the venue and from the venue team.

What is possible

Weddings for up to 60 guests, intimate weddings and elopements, vow renewals, proposals, anniversaries and private celebrations. The ceremony, the wedding dinner and the night after can all take place at Aurora Hill, and we plan, design and coordinate the whole day around it.

Seasons & availability

The aurora season, from late August to April, is the heart of the year on the hill, with snowy winters and the northern lights above the cabins. We confirm availability for your dates directly with the resort and the restaurant.

Ceremony locations

Outdoors on the hillside, with the valley and the open northern sky behind you, or indoors in Restaurant Roavvi before dinner. For the two of you alone, an intimate ceremony or vow renewal inside your suite.

Reception & dining

Restaurant Roavvi seats up to 60 guests, and private use of the whole restaurant is possible for your wedding dinner. The seasonal northern menu is created by Head Chef Gordon Yam with culinary advisor Toni Kostian, and we design the tablescapes, florals, candlelight and stationery around it. For a dinner for two, we can also style a table inside your suite.

Staying the night

Yes — you and your guests can stay in the resort’s cabins: Aurora Suites for two, Aurora Suite Plus and Aurora Sky Suites (with a glass roof) for up to three, and the Aurora Family Suite for up to four. Every cabin has its own bathroom and kitchenette, and breakfast is included.

Extras & experiences

The free Northern Lights Alert app for guests, private experiences in StayLapland’s Kuoksa Wilderness Park with pickup from the resort, premium winter clothing rental, taxi and car rental, and relax and celebration packages. We add styling, flowers, photography, music and transport around the day.

Good to know

Aurora Hill is operated by StayLapland, one of our closest partners, which makes booking and coordination straightforward. The resort is about 10 km from the city centre, and reception is open daily from 7:00 to 1:30 at night.
