A national park proposal in Lapland with us is a day out that looks, to your partner, like a guided nature walk. The guide is really a professional photographer, the trail ends at a spot we have chosen together with you, and the ring comes out in one of the most beautiful places in the north. This is The Path to Yes, our surprise walk proposal, set in Riisitunturi National Park, the Korouma canyon or another place in Lapland that suits the two of you.
Here we walk you through the day stage by stage, from the moment you are collected to the snack by the campfire afterwards. We do not print fixed clock times, because every day is shaped around the season, the light and the place you choose. The order of events, though, stays the same, and knowing it in advance is what lets you relax and enjoy the walk.
Before the day: what we plan together
Most of the work happens weeks before anyone laces up their boots. We talk through where you would like to walk and what kind of landscape feels like the two of you. Riisitunturi is known for its snow-crowned trees, heavy white shapes that look almost sculpted in winter. The Korouma canyon is deeper and more dramatic, with steep walls and a sense of being tucked away from the world. If neither feels right, we choose another beautiful place in Lapland with you.
Then we agree on the exact spot along the trail where the moment will happen, and what will be waiting there. Every booking includes a bouquet of 30 roses and complimentary sparkling wine. If you would like more, you can add décor set up at the proposal spot, a bigger bouquet or a videographer.
The cover story
Your partner needs a reason to spend a day walking in a national park. The simplest version is the truest one: you have booked a guided nature walk as part of your Lapland trip. Because the photographer really does lead you along the trail, nothing about the story has to be stretched. We help you decide how much to say and when to say it.
What you need to bring
The ring, warm clothes and a good pair of boots. Organisation, planning and coordination are all part of the booking, and all transportation on the day is included, so you never need to look at a map or worry about timing.
The pick-up: meeting your guide
The day begins when your guide arrives to collect you. To your partner, this is simply the person leading your excursion. They introduce themselves, check you are dressed for the conditions and explain the plan for the walk, exactly as a nature guide would.
The drive out to the park is part of the experience. In winter the forests along the way are white and heavy with snow; in summer the light seems to go on forever. It is a good time to settle in, chat, and let the anticipation build without your partner suspecting a thing.
On the trail: how the walk unfolds
Once you reach the park, the walk begins at an easy pace. Your guide points out the landscape, stops at viewpoints and, like many guides do, offers to take a few photos of the two of you along the way. Those first frames matter: they are natural, relaxed pictures taken before your partner knows what is coming, and they become the opening chapter of your proposal story.
Why the photographer never breaks character
The role of guide is not a costume. Our photographer knows the route, sets the rhythm of the walk and keeps the conversation flowing, so there is never a moment where the act feels thin. The proposal stays a complete surprise until the very second you ask.
What the trail looks like in each season
In winter you walk through crown snow and soft blue light. In summer the midnight sun keeps the forest glowing late into the evening. In September the ground and the birches blaze with autumn colours. The walk is beautiful in every season of the year, and each one gives the photographs a completely different mood.
The moment: what waits at the end of the path
As you round the last bend, the spot we chose together comes into view. We set everything up before you arrive, so what your partner sees is a place that seems to have been waiting just for you: the bouquet of 30 roses, sparkling wine ready to open, and any décor you have added.
This is where your guide becomes what they really are. They step back, find the angle and capture the moment you turn to your partner, the look on their face and everything that follows. You do not need to look for the camera or wait for a signal; you simply ask.

After the yes: couple photos and the campfire
Once the first hug is over, your photographer takes couple photos of the two of you right there, while the emotion is still on your faces. These are relaxed, guided portraits in the landscape you have just walked through, and they carry the feeling of the day like nothing else.
Then it is time to slow down. You enjoy a snack by the campfire with your sparkling wine while it all sinks in. There is no rush to move on. When you are ready, we take everything down afterwards, so the place is left exactly as you found it.
The drive back
Transport home is included, just as it was on the way out. Many couples like to finish the day with a dinner for two in Rovaniemi; our guide to restaurants for a post-proposal dinner has ideas for where to toast your engagement.
Does a national park proposal in Lapland change in winter?
The order does not change, but the rhythm does. Winter days in Lapland are short, and from mid-December to early January the polar night brings a long blue twilight instead of a sunrise. We plan the walk so you reach the spot while the light is at its most beautiful, and the campfire becomes an even bigger part of the afternoon. Between late August and April there is also a chance of northern lights on the evening drive back, which some couples count as a bonus to a perfect day.
In summer there is no hurry at all. The midnight sun means the walk, the photos and the campfire can stretch out as long as you like.
